As mentioned in my work for Third Floor Promotions, my design for their debut event lead to Future Yard contacting me personally asking for me to create a poster for their 'New Year's Eve Hogmanay' event. To be asked to do this based on them being impressed by my other work was a huge compliment to me and one that really motivated me, as Future Yard are a venue that prides itself on not only promoting musical talent, but talents in all corners of the music industry, and especially gig posters and printed graphics.

The brief was sent to me by Chris at Future Yard and included details of the New Year's Event, but left the creative aspect of the poster wide open for me to experiment with. Chris had said that they normally used templated posts in their house branding style for events they organised themselves but wanted this one to break that mould and to have a similar feel to my other poster, with the poster acting as a centrepiece and being as visually interesting as it was informative.
This is the final poster design that was used for the event and it is safe to say I was extremely pleased with not only the look of the poster but the reception from Chris and the team at Future Yard. Because they are so used to promoting their in-house events with their own branding I decided that I needed to retain the Future Yard feel, so I used their house typeface to create a stencil for the information on the poster, which I then hand drew over using procreate. I also wanted to make sure that I kept the feel of the poster similar to the one I created for WOO and Third Floor, as that was the reason they had decided to commission this poster from me. So I made sure that the poster was vibrant, colourful and busy to attract people's eye and make it stand out against other posters they may have seen side by side.

Following on from this poster I have been in contact with Future Yard again to discuss more freelance work they would like to arrange for me, including a number of other poster designs for events.
