Third Floor Promotions are a Wrexham-based promotion company, specialising in promoting local and underground musical talent with an emphasis on word-of-mouth traction and live event organisation.
I was contacted by James and Garyn at Third Floor in the summer of 2022 initially to give them a few options for a logo while they worked on setting up the business. We have since gone on to strike up a great relationship and I am not working for them on a freelance basis to produce their social media graphics and live event advertising, including gig posters.
The images above show the main logo and brand colour scheme that I created.
James and Garyn initially sent me some sketches and liked the idea of a logo containing a staircase to visualise the name third floor. After some time spent looking at the best way to include this idea in the logo mark, I eventually settled on the mark you see above, which not only visualizes the staircase but also includes the number 3 and the letter F.
The brand guide above was given to James and Garyn to fully explain the rationale behind the logo and they were over the moon with the results. The logomark went down very well with their social media following and the results of this logo lead to me striking up a partnership with them to work on other projects...
To advertise their debut gig, hosted at Future Yard Birkenhead which featured a number of bands including the up-and-coming Liverpudlians 'WOO', I created the poster you can see above. There was no specific art direction for this poster, as it was James and Garyn's first attempt at a live gig they gave me free rein on the creative aspect and just provided me with details that needed to be included. The only guidance that they did give was that they didn't just want the poster to be informative, they wanted it to be a centrepiece and something that would impress not only the public to buy tickets, but the band and other acts that they may want to entice to play events for them in future.
The result was this psychedelic campfire scene you can see above which combined the use of procreate and photoshop to finalise.
I really enjoyed working on this project, not least because music is a massive passion of mine and to be able to work on these briefs and show my talent was a massive blessing. The two lower images were created as a carousel suite to be posted via Instagram to advertise the event further.

After creating this poster I was contacted by Future Yard to work on a commissioned event poster for their 'New Year's Eve Hogmanay' event, which was really encouraging as they are a venue that prides themselves on great artwork for their events, so to get recognition of a job well done, and an invite to work with them was brilliant for me.
